Rub These Two Oils on Your Gums and Teeth and you probably will not need to go to a dentist again

Essential oils have been long used for oral health, and studies finally confirm that they indeed have a lot to offer.  They are effective, safe, and beneficial for both teeth and gums.  By maintaining balance of the oral flora, essential oils work as reliable and even superior choice to antiseptic formulas.

According to a 2014 study published in the Journal of International Oral Health, entitled “Possible Use of Essential Oils in Dentistry”,

“Essential oil rinses are found to be equally effective in inhibiting plaque. A study carried out by Pizzo et al. on plaque inhibitory effect of amine fluoride/stannous fluoride and essential oils showed no significant difference in efficacy of both. As chlorhexidine causes staining of teeth on long term use, essential oils can be used as an alternative to chlorhexidine rinse. Essential oils have shown to possess antimicrobial activity against subgingival periopathogens too.”

Clove oil

Clove oil contains a compound called eugenol, which has been long used in dentistry for its analgesic and anesthetic properties.  This compound shows pharmacological effect on all bodily symptoms. Eugenol is also known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, in addition to its local anesthetic activity. Hence, due to its chemical compound, this oil is effective at reducing dental pain and treating mouth ulcers, cavities, bad breath, and sore gums.

Did you know that you can also prepare you own clove bud oil at home? Here is how to do it:

Ingredients:

4 fresh clove buds, crushed
Carrier oil, such as olive oil
600 ML airtight bottleneck jar
Strainer
Glass container with spout

Instructions:

Put the four crushed cloves at the bottom of the jar.
Fill the jar with the carrier oil so that the cloves are fully submerged
Seal the container well
Keep the mixture in an area exposed to sunlight for up to a week
Strain the mixture and toss away the cloves
Pour the strained mixture in the bottleneck jar

Tea Tree Oil

Due to its strong antiviral, antifungal, antiprotozoal, and antibacterial properties, tea tree oil reduces bacteria, yeast, and fungal infections and effectively treats viral infections like cold sores. Additionally, it eases the symptoms of gingivitis and denture stomatitis. A study done by researchers at Switzerland’s Institute of Preventive Dentistry and Oral Microbiology at the University of Basel showed that tea tree oil works against bad breath by inhibiting bacterial colonies responsible for halitosis.

Method

Clove and tea tree oil essential oils

Rubbing clove and tea tree oil on your gums or brushing your teeth with them prevents bad breath, tooth decay, cavities, and gingivitis.  Simply apply two drops of these oils two times a day with carrier oil like coconut oil.
