8 Easy Ways to Remove Skin Tags Without Seeing a Doctor

Skin tags, medically referred to as acrochordon, are result of accumulation of collagen and blood vessels in thicker parts of the skin.  They typically develop in skin creases and folds, which leads researchers to believe that skin rubbing against the skin is a possible cause of skin tags.  Both males and females are prone to skin tags and it is believed that obesity is a potential contributor to their development. They are small bits of dark tissue and their number may vary from one to a few hundreds.

It is worth mentioning that they are benign skin growths, meaning that they are harmless. Given that they are benign skin growths, it means that they may fall off on their own and in most cases they don’t seek medical attention.  A couple of DIY remedies will do the trick, and the most of effective are presented below:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Simply soak a cotton ball in ACV and apply over the affected area.  For optimal results, repeat the procedure on a regular basis for about a month.

2. Pineapple Juice

Using pineapple juice for removing skin tags is one of the simplest remedies and is known to work on warts and moles, too.  All you have to do is to apply fresh pineapple juice on the skin tag two or three times daily.   Repeat the procedure for at least 10 days in a row.

3. Onion Juice

Cut an onion in halves and leave it overnight in a container filled with salt.  In the morning, simply extract the juice.  For skin tag removal, you should apply onion juice on the skin tag every night, over the course of 10-12 days.

4. Tea Tree Oil

Soak a cotton ball in pure water and then pour a few drops of tea tree oil on the ball. Rub the skin tag with this solution, using circular motions.  Repeat the process twice daily for a week.

5. Castor Oil

Mix a few drops of castor oil with a little baking powder to create a paste.  Apply the paste onto the affected area on a regular basis, for 2-4 weeks.

6. Banana Peel

Cut a small piece of the banana peel and place the inner part directly onto the skin tag. Secure with gauze and leave it on overnight.  Repeat the procedure on a daily basis until the skin tag eventually falls off.

7. Nail Polish

Interestingly, nail polish works as an effective and simple skin tag remover! Simply apply some nail polish onto the affected area, leave it on until dry, and remove.  Repeat the procedure three times daily for a couple of days.

8. Duct Tape

Last but not least, duct tape works as an effective remedy, causing the skin tag to die and shrink.  First and foremost, make sure the affected area is clean and dry.  Cut a piece of tape and cover the skin tag, pressing firmly on the tape.  Repeat this procedure continuously for 5 to 7 days until the skin tags fall off.
