Treat Sinus Congestion With ACV and Pressure Points

Moving the vomer bone back and forth with specific pressure points helps drain the sinuses and alleviate the pain. This bone is located in the nasal cavity.

Place one thumb on the point between the eyebrows as you push the tongue against the roof of the mouth. You should apply pressure with the thumbs and the tongue at the same time, for half a minute.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic

Ingredients


  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3-5 drops of plain stevia
  • 1 ½ cups warm water

Instructions

Mix all the ingredients and take the tonic two to three times daily for optimal results.

Other Home Remedies

Horseradish Spread

Mix a tablespoon of grated horseradish with a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of virgin olive oil. This spread works wonders for clearing congested sinuses. Spread it on crackers of choice.

Ginger Compress

Boil two cups of water with a 3-inch ginger root. Cover and simmer for a few minutes before straining. Let it cool, soak a cloth in the tea, and apply on the face, keeping it on for 15 minutes.  Ginger is extremely effective in reduces both inflammation and sinus pain.

Steam with Thyme & Peppermint

Put three teaspoons each of thyme and peppermint in a bowl and pour boiling over them.  Place a towel over the head and lean over the bowl. Inhale for a few minutes and repeat the procedure two times a day.  Thyme is a potent anti-bacterial agent while mint acts as natural decongestant.

Antibiotic Lemon and Garlic Tea

Ingredients


  • 1 lemon, cut in 4 pieces and seeded
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup water
  • Honey

Instructions


  • Blend the lemon, garlic, and ½ cup of water
  • Pour the mixture into a heatproof jar, add the boiling water, and steep for a few minutes
  • Strain and sweeten to taste
  • Drink this tea two times daily

Homeopathic Remedies


Silicea: Use it if there is sinus pain over the front of the sinuses, if a nose is obstructed, if the nose bleeds easily, or if there are hard crusts in the nose.

Pulsatilla: Use it with loss of smell, a stuffy nose, or maxillary sinus pressure. The nose drains when lying down and it stops when standing.

Nux Vomica: Use it with stuffy nose, particularly outdoors and at night.  It also works for those feeling chilly, irritable, and bothered by light.

Mercurius Iodatus: Use it if you suffer from extreme of temperatures, green discharge, or if your nostrils are ulcerated and raw.

Kalium Bichromium: Use it if the frontal sinuses are stuffy, if the symptoms are alleviated by warm compresses and aggravated by exposure to damp air, if there is a feeling of pressure at the nose, or if there is a loss of smell.

Hydrastis: Use it with foul smelling, constant nose blowing, raw nasal passages, and water acrid discharge. Cool air relieves the sinus headaches while warm air blocks the nose up.

Hepar Sulph: Use it in case of loss of smell, feeling chilly and irritable, yellow-green discharge, facial pain, and blocked nose.

Arsenicum Album: Use if the condition aggravates with exposure to open air, in case of desire for warm beverages, anxiety, and thing or watery discharge.

Instructions:


  • Grate the ginger root first, and combined it with 2 deciliters of ACV in a glass bowl
  • Transfer the solution into a glass jar and seal it well. Keep it at room temperature for 10 days, shaking the jar once in a while.
  • Put your head over the jar and cover with a towel
  • Inhale the aroma for 5-10 minutes
  • At bedtime, soak a handkerchief in the mixture and place it on the neck. Let it work overnight.

Steam Inhalation:

Steam inhalation is a good way to open up the nasal passages and alleviate the symptoms of sinusitis.  All you have to do is to lean over a bowl of boiling water, two to four times daily. Make sure you don’t breathe in the steam as it boils! Simply cover the head with a towel and inhale for about ten minutes.
