I’m so Glad I Learned This Trick! Learn How to STOP Suffering from a Stiff Neck

Neck pain is quite variable, with some people experiencing stiffness and some people being stuck with severe pain.  It may spread to the shoulders, upper back and arms, even causing headaches in some cases. Moreover, the neck movements may also be limited, usually more to one side than the other.

Neck pain is an umbrella term for pain anywhere from the area at the base of the skull into the shoulders.

The neck includes:

  • The bones and joints of the cervical spine (vertebrae of the neck).
  • The discs that separate the cervical vertebrae and absorb shock as you move.
  • The muscles and ligaments in the neck that hold the cervical spine together.

Injury to one or more of these areas is the most common cause of neck pain, although there are many different causes. For instance, a strain or spasm of the neck muscles as well as inflammation of the neck joints may cause neck pain.

Below you have a list of some of the most common activities which may cause neck pain:

  • Work or exercise which requires the use of your upper body and arms
  • Tension makes the muscles feel tight and painful, especially those that run from the back of the head across the back of the shoulder
  • Sleeping on a too high or too flat pillow which doesn’t support the head
  • Sleeping on the stomach, with your neck twisted/ bent
  • Spending a lot of time in the “thinker`s pose” ( resting the forehead on the upright fist or arm)
  • Holding the hand in odd position while reading, working, or watching TV

More Serious Causes of Neck Pain

The  neck pain is likely to be caused by some more serious condition, especially if accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Sudden weight loss
  • Problems walking
  • High temperature ( fever)
  • A lack of coordination

Castor oil is obtained by pressing the seeds of castor plant, scientifically known as Ricinus communis. It is a vegetable oil, and the castor plant is native to India and Africa. People in India were fully aware of the potential of this oil, which is the reason why it has been used for centuries in this country. The oil itself has been made popular worldwide for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well as for its wide plethora of health benefits and ability to treat countless health ailments and conditions.

Most of its health benefits come from its high fatty acid content, particularly ricinoleic acid. Castor oil acts as potent antiviral, analgesic, antibacterial, and laxative agent. Therefore, it`s no wonder that it successfully treats a wide array of health conditions, including arthritis, sciatica pain, and back pain. Thanks to the properties above, it heals skin inflammation  caused by sunburns, acne, or dry skin; it slows down aging by penetrating deeply into the skin and stimulating the production of collagen; delays aging by preventing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines under the eyes; reduces acne breakouts; moisturizes the skin and brings its smooth, young, and soft appearance back; fades blemishes and scars; reduces pigmentation; stimulates hair growth; treats scalp infections; works as natural hair conditioner;prevents premature graying of the hair; and soothes an irritated scalp.

Due to its remarkable properties, if is often included in cosmetic products, soaps, textiles, and massage oils. Interestingly, it is often used in the production of textiles, rubber, and the production of paintings and varnishes.

However, the list doesn’t end here! Apart from these beautifying benefits, castor oil also boosts immunity, treats ringworms, disinfects wounds, scrapes, and cuts, works as natural laxative, treats gastrointestinal disorders, reduces joint pain and alleviates symptoms of arthritis, treats back pain naturally, cleanses the stomach, improves digestion, reduces abdominal problems like gas, bloating, and nausea, eases constipation, and many more.

Due to its potent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, and analgesic properties, people suffering from back pain, sciatica, and arthritis can benefit a lot from its topical application. To use castor oil for this purpose, simply apply a small amount of it onto the affected area. Massage it gently, using circular motions.  Repeat the procedure a few times daily until the pain subsides.

To alleviate back pain, you can also go for a ‘castor oil pack’. The process is very simple, requiring topical application of the oil on the painful spots, covering the area with a cloth, and placing a hot water bag on the back.  This method is safe and effective home remedy and while many people are not fond of covering the back in plastic for an hour or so, the result is definitely worth the effort.  A castor oil pack can relieve  joint and tissue pain, too.

Note:  Although it provides numerous health benefits, castor oil should be used with caution due to potential side effects. When taken orally, it may cause adverse side effects like digestive discomfort or diarrhea. On the other hand, it may cause skin irritation when used topically by people who are sensitive or allergic to it.
